Neel Shantiniketan CHS located opposite Kalina University, Santacruz East was declared dangerous under C-1 category. Two days ago, BMC disconnected the society's utilities.
The society's redevelopment project is stuck owing to some documentation issues.
Authorities need to make some provision for societies declared dangerous as many of these are not viable for redevelopment mainly due to legal issues which the members are completely unaware until their redevelopment project is stuck.
The members pay the government registration, stamp duty, and property tax. They also contribute to the paid customer base of utilities
Under humanitarian grounds some alternate approach is required to develop/repair dilapidated societies.
